Fender USA 1982 Stratocaster loaded pickguard. Up for sale is this vintage “loaded” pickguard from a Fender USA 1982 Stratocaster made in Fullerton, California. Overview: The 1982 “Smith” Stratocaster is quite rare, only being produced for one year at the old Fullerton California plant. It marked the return of the 4-bolt neck and the smaller headstock to the standard Stratocaster line. All the latter features were gone in 1983, never to return to the American Standard Stratocaster. I very rarely get parts for this model in stock, so don’t expect this to last here for long. The pickguard has aged and yellowed nicely to a very attractive cream color. There are only a few light scratches, very hard to see or picture, and a single small scratch to the right of the truss rod notch. That truss rod cutout (same as on the STRAT’s pickguard), is a necessity for accessing and adjusting the truss rod on the 1982 Stratocaster. The pot dates all show “82” date codes. Installation Notes : Although intended for a Fender USA 1982 Stratocaster, this collection of parts will also do nicely for 1980 or 1981 Stratocasters. Actually, this part will fit any standard Stratocaster body. Installation is fairly simple: wire up the ground wire from the bridge, and solder the volume pot terminals to your output jack.
