1980s Fender USA Stratocaster loaded pickguard. Up for sale is this clean “loaded” pickguard pulled from a rare 1981 Fender USA “STRAT” model. If you change out the lower rotary switch it would also be the same loaded pickguard as the 1982 “Dan Smith” Stratocaster. All the components are Fender Fullerton original, are in great shape, and all work as well as new. This is definitely the most awesome sounding set of 1980s Fender pickups I’ve heard, especially when combined with The STRAT’s new wiring. The sound from this set of pickups is the most kick-ass vintage Fender sound you will come across. All the pots work well, with no noise when used. The “81” date code is only evident on the middle pot. Even the white 3-ply pickguard itself has very little wear. There are hardly any pickmarks, just a few small scratches (pictured). However, they are not obvious – you have to hold the pickguard angled up tor a light to see them. No major scratches, gouges, breaks, cracks, or other wear is present. The pickguard has not yellowed much at all – it is still close to its original white color. FYI: The 1982 “Dan Smith” Strat used the exact same set of components as “The STRAT”, except with a standard 250K lower tone pot instead of the twin-mode switch. Overall, this is a great-sounding collection of vintage parts in outstanding shape. Installation Notes : If you have a 1980 – 1982 STRAT, installing this part couldn’t be easier. Simply solder up the output wire from your jack and the bridge’s ground wire, screw on the pickguard, and you’re done!
