Brand new Fender CTS pots (top quality, if you know them), turns extremely smoothly. The same American-made top quality cotton wrapped (shielded) wires used in Fender Custom Shop (Double-cloth jacket has a waxed cotton outer braid and a Celanese inner braid just like Leo used). High quality no lead soldering tin free from oxidation (the same used on high end stereo system). So all you need to do is connect these two wires to your output jack. Includes Two APS-1 Pickups (Neck/Bridge). White Covers with Seymour Duncan Logo. Alnico 2 Magnets, Staggered, Moderate Windings. Waxed Cloth Hookup Cable, “Keyed” Bottom Plate. The Seymour Duncan APS-1-CSET is a complete set of three vintage-correct true single-coil pickups, recommended for country, pop, surf, rockabilly, blues, ska and classic rock. The hand ground Alnico 2 magnets and moderate windings (Heavy Formvar wire) yield a warm, sweet tone with more natural string vibration for great sustain. It allows them to back off the crunch and get beautiful clean tones with softer attack. Compared to the SSL-1, the APS-1 has a rounder sound with a spongier bass response. Comes with waxed cloth hookup cable and vintage-style “keyed” bottom plate. The APS-1 is designed for warmer toned ash, alder or basswood body instruments. Works with maple and rosewood fingerboards. Note that if the covers are used, the B pole pieces will be slightly recessed into the covers. About the Guitars: We used all brand new Fender American made’62 re-issue Strat with a medium-weight alder body a rosewood board and a fresh set of American Flyer 10-46 gauge strings. About the Amps: We employed the “highest common denominator” philosophy in our amp selection. For clean tones, we used a silverface Fender Super Reverb with stock 4×10 “blue frame” speakers. We kept the Bright Switch “On” throughout. For crunch tones, we used a well-worn Marshall JCM 800 50 watt master volume head through a new Marshall 1960A Celestion®-loaded 4×12 cabinet. We plugged into the High output. With both amps we close miked straight-on with SM-57s through a Soundcraft Spirit Folio Mixer. These are the amp settings. Available mods Reverse wound, reverse polarity (RW/RP) middle pickups for hum canceling in positions “2” and “4” on the five-way switch.
