1979 Fender USA Stratocaster loaded pickguard. Will also do nicely for the 1980 and 1981 Stratocasters – COMPLETE! Up for sale is this clean “loaded” pickguard pulled from a 1980 Fender USA Stratocaster. I usually sell the parts on this separately, but I’m hoping someone will see the real value of having the complete loaded pickguard for a vintage 1980, 1981 or 1982 Strat restoration. It’s also a great upgrade for any Strat. It’s especially ideal for those who aren’t great at soldering. And here’s the pitch to your wife! : having a completely original Strat greatly increases its resale value. All the components are Fender Fullerton original, are in great shape, and all work as well as new. There is rust on the pickups’ magnet poles and screws, but of course this is just a cosmetic issue that doesn’t affect the sound at all. As you can see in the pictures, the original Fender pickups all have the desirable gray fiber bobbins. You can clearly see the 79 dates on the backs of the neck and middle pickups. As for the controls, the “79” date code is only seen on the middle pot. The volume and lower tone pots’ dates are covered by solder. The lower tone pot is not the original, but is an age-correct pot pulled from a 1979 Fender Lead. The pickguard itself has the usual pickmarks. They are not easy to see on a black guard unless angled up to a light. At the lower bout part there is an odd mark, perhaps from a sticker? No major scratches, gouges, breaks, cracks, or warping is present on the pickguard. Finally, I did not get the original knobs with this part, but have included some – the tone knobs are not original 1970s Fender parts, the volume knob is. Overall, this is a great-sounding collection of vintage parts. Installation Notes : If you have a 1979 – 1982 Strat, installing this part couldn’t be easier. Simply solder up the output wire to your jack, screw on the pickguard, and you’re done! Although obviously intended for a vintage Stratocaster restoration, this part will fit any standard Fender USA Stratocaster body.
