1980s Fender USA Stratocaster loaded pickguard. Up for sale is this clean “loaded” pickguard pulled from a rare 1981 Fender USA “STRAT” model. If you change out the lower rotary switch it would also be the same loaded pickguard as the 1982 “Dan Smith” Stratocaster. All the components are Fender Fullerton original, are in great shape, and all work as well as new. This is definitely the most awesome sounding set of 1980s Fender pickups I’ve heard, especially when combined with The STRAT’s new wiring. The sound from this set of pickups is the most kick-ass vintage Fender sound you will come across. All the pots work well, with no noise when used. The “81” date code is only evident on the middle pot. Even the white 3-ply pickguard itself has very little wear. There are hardly any pickmarks, just a few small scratches (pictured). However, they are not obvious – you have to hold the pickguard angled up tor a light to see them. No major scratches, gouges, breaks, cracks, or other wear is present. The pickguard has not yellowed much at all – it is still close to its original white color. FYI: The 1982 “Dan Smith” Strat used the exact same set of components as “The STRAT”, except with a standard 250K lower tone pot instead of the twin-mode switch. Overall, this is a great-sounding collection of vintage parts in outstanding shape. Installation Notes : If you have a 1980 – 1982 STRAT, installing this part couldn’t be easier. Simply solder up the output wire from your jack and the bridge’s ground wire, screw on the pickguard, and you’re done! I have the original gold knobs and gold jack with mounting plate available separately. All the information I have about an item with many high-quality photos. Fender Stratocaster USA Loaded Pickguard Fat Strat – S1 Switching & Superswitch Tex Mex and DH1 Humbucker 2007. This allows for a tonal palette way broader than what can be achieved with a standard Strat. The single coils are the Fender Tex Mex models which have a higher output and beefier tone than standard Fender pickups but can still achieve the pure Strat tones that the even higher output Texas Specials balk at. The Humbucker is Fenders tried and tested DH1 which produces a good balance between vintage and modern PAF tones and can be heard as both a full Humbucker and coil tapped depending on the S1 Switchs position. All hardware, switches, pots and wiring are genuine Fender – this is an unmodified Fender Pickguard taken straight from the guitar. This would be a great sounding Fender USA Pickguard without the sophisticated electronics but with the S1 Switching and Superswitch the tonal variations really open up.
